…of this summer’s swimwear…
With holidays in the front of our minds, we’ve been trawling the swimwear out there for the best around. We’ve all got slightly different needs as we span the age groups; so this is our edit for summer ’16..
In an attempt to face my mid-life crisis head on, I’ve realised it’s time to walk away from the bikini. Helen Mirren might wear it well, but I cannot. However there are some great (modest) 2 pieces out there if you’ve managed to avoid the spread around the middle. Boden do a great mix and match range of two-pieces which include the super handy tankini for those of us who do want to keep a bit more covered up these days, and the bottoms have a nice width of side that doesn’t cut in. Or you can still go with a side tie if you’re nice and toned (and tanned!)
My go-to place for kaftans is Coco Bay online store, they are also stockists of the fab Sea Folly who do brilliant, cleverly designed bikinis and tankinis, which are well cut and high quality so you feel safely pulled together.
In order; One piece – Speedo, halter tankini Boden, breton stripe bikini top – Boden, bikini mix and match bottoms both Boden, blue goddess one-piece – Seafolly, stripe one piece – Seafolly, kaftans both Coco Bay.
Accessorise with a pair of quality sunglasses, hide behind a decent book, and you’re sorted.
20’s – by Mack
Here’s my pick of Summer ‘16 beach gear. A few things I’ve had my eye on this year. All high street stuff because as a 22 year old I would never get anything high-end, especially when it comes to swimwear – but I have included a mix of the super cheap and cheerful and some ever so slightly more expensive bits if you wanted to splash (excuse the pun, sorry) out a little bit more. I’ve thrown in a couple of beachy accessories that I love too.
In order, Sharkini Bikini by Lazy Oaf, Surfie Long Sleeve Bikini Top and Bottoms by Motel, Dosey Bikini in Gingham by Motel, White Pace Swimsuit by Unif, Ice Cream Printed Swimsuit by H&M, Cloud Towel by Lazy Oaf, Beach Squad Towel by New Look, Pineapple Hat by Unif, Shell Pool Float and Pizza Slice Pool Float both by Urban Outfitters
Lastly, for the tweenies – post by Kitty age 8
I’m not a pink, girly girl so I mostly like stripey cossies, polka dots, and rainbows. But I do make an exception for watermelons and the occasional strawberry. And some crazy sunglasses.
In order; amazing ruffle pineapple one piece – Accessorize, reversible watermelon bottoms and then flamingoes – both Roxy Kids, hat – H&M, green broiderie anglais bikini – Next, cat sunglasses – H&M, kaftan – Boden, breton bikini H&M, water melon tankini and ruffle cossie – both M&S, starfish cossie – Polarn O Pyret, daisy hat – Accessorize, rainbow tankini – Boden, board shorts – Boden, blue stripe bikini and ruffle cossies Boden.
